Bala Vidya Mandir school is set to open for students
Chennai: Bala Vidya Mandir school is set to open for students on Monday with former principal, Mr Srinivasa Raghavan, back at the helm of affairs. The teachers agreed to resume classes after a meeting between the newly reconstituted management committee and a combined delegation of 15 parents and 10 teachers at the school premises on Sunday.
The marathon meeting, which started late in the evening, continued till 10 pm after which the parties arrived at a solution. “The focus of the meeting was to ensure the classes get going for children and we are happy that the meeting turned positive,” said a person privy to the meeting.
Though the management is yet to put out its word officially, parents have already started receiving messages on WhatsApp over the school re-opening on Monday. One of those privy to the meeting told DC that the three demands were again put on the table and this time the management gave it serious thought.
Though the main demand - reinstating the former principal - was addressed by the management, it remains to be seen whether they will heed the other two demands. There is no word yet on adequate representation of parents and teachers in the newly reconstituted SMC as per CBSE rules and the shifting of the corporate office from the school.
On Saturday, the two parties met at the school in Adyar to discuss the way forward ending a week-long stand-off which started over a circular sent by the school over differential fee structures.
