Nargis Fakhri, Huma Qureshi finalised for 'Azhar'
Mumbai: The teaser of the biopic based on the life of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin has created a lot of buzz. There have been numerous speculations about the cast of the Emraan Hashmi starrer.
While it was certain that Prachi Desai had been cast for the role of the cricketer’s first wife Naureen, there were rumours stating Jacqueline Fernandez had been approached for the role of his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani. However those rumours turned out to be untrue.
Nargis Fakhri will essay the role of Sangeeta Bijlani in the film. The cricketer had married the Bollywood actress after divorcing his first wife Naureen. Azhar and Sangeeta separated in 2010. He was subsequently linked to shuttler Jwala Gutta, but both denied the reports.
According to reports ‘Badlapur’ actress Huma Qureshi has been roped in to play the role of Jwala Gutta, and ‘Bigg Boss’ winner Gautam Gulati will be seen as Ravi Shastri in the film.
The film will highlight the cricketer's much-talked about affair and marriage to actress Sangeeta Bijlani. Towards the end of his career the Azhar was accused of match-fixing, which will also be another major focus of the film. 'Azhar' is directed by Tony D’Souza. Scripted by Rajat Aroraa. The film slated to release on 13 May 2016.
