Service road from Sarjapur to Bellandur Central Mall needs immediate attention: Bengaluru residents

Bengaluru: Commuting on the service road from Sarjapur to Bellandur Central Mall has become a nightmare. Commuters and residents have started campaigns on social media sites for the restoring of the road, garnering huge support. Meanwhile Bengaluru Development Authority officials claim, the slow pace of the BWSSB work has been a major reason for the current situation.

Sushant Kashyap, a resident points out, “The complete stretch of the service road from Sarjapur Signal toward Bangalore Central, Bellandur is in tatters. The road was in a very good condition a few months ago, but workmen dug up the whole stretch and left it to the mercy of the gods. I urge the authorities to re-construct the road, as it is a huge inconvenience to the people living in the area.”

He added, “None of the auto-rickshaws are ready to commute to this area, citing the road condition, and if they do oblige, they then charge huge amounts. With monsoons to arrive soon, these roads will get further damaged.”

BDA Assistant Executive Engineer Sripad Rao said, “Until BWSSB finishes its work, we cannot restore the road permanently. BWSSB was to finish the work by December 31, 2014 but since they had then completed just 30 percent, they appealed for a time till April end. Now they have asked for a further extension till July end.”
