Police book Nellore legislator Anilkumar Yadav following a complaint
Nellore: Police have booked a case against Nellore city YSRC legislator, Dr P. Anilkumar Yadav under SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act based on a complaint lodged by the corporator of 51st division of Nellore Municipal Corporation M. Prasanth Kumar on Saturday. Interestingly, the corporator also belongs to YSR Congress. The follower of legislator Kayala Suresh also filed a complaint against the corporator and police booked the same under IPC sections 447 and 320.
Police officials said that they are probing the matter to proceed further. According to information, the legislator found fault with the corporator for demanding to remove petty shops that came up on a sewerage canal in the area during Janmabhoomi programme held at Kapatipalem in Nellore on Saturday.
The corporator, who was also present in the programme, said that he asked the shopkeepers to remove their bunks only to desilt the canal and he is not intended to affect their livelihood. He alleged that the legislator had worked for his defeat in the election but he won because God was on his side.
Irked by his speech, the followers of the legislator raised a hue and cry and the TD cadres locked horns with them. The groups threw chairs on each other forcing the programme to a halt. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Incidentally, Mayor Sk. Abdul Azeez and joint collector Md. A. Imtiaz, who adopted the division under Smart Ward plan, were also present in the programme. Addressing the locals after the incident, Mayor found fault with the behaviour of the legislator and praised the corporator for taking keen interest in developing the division.
