Letter warns of ISIS attack on goods train
The railway police should nab and interrogate the ISIS activists, the letter stated
Salem: The railway protection force has received a warning letter that the ISIS is planning to blow up a goods train at Mettur on the Independence Day. The assistant commissioner of the railway protection force V.Govindarajan received a letter on Friday evening, the contents of which sent the police into a tizzy.
The letter, purportedly sent by the state secretary of the Democratic Youth Association, claimed that 25 members of the extremist oufit ISIS camping in Kovilur in Mecheri panchayat had hatched a conspiracy to derail a goods train operating between Salem junction and Mettur on August 15.
The railway police should nab and interrogate the ISIS activists, the letter stated. RPF officers have alerted the Salem police commissioner and the superintendent of police about the warning letter.
The police are conducting a probe at the Kovilur village to locate the sender of the letter. The railway stations between Salem and Mettur and the railway tracks on the stretch are being thoroughly checked, the police said.
