Visakhapatnam: In a significant development, the conceptual design for the proposed Vizag’s IT signature tower, which is touted as AP’s iconic building for IT sector, will be ready within eight weeks from now. The state government, which has been moving steadily on the proposal, has recently picked Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a New York Stock Exchange listed company, to finalise the conceptual design, revenue model and also identify the joint venture development partner.
The state government selected JLL after carefully evaluating the technical and financial bids it received for the Expression of Interest (EoI) and Request For Proposal (RFP) floated at various stages. Finalising a consultant and laying foundation stone for what is termed as an iconic structure had already been delayed by more than four months. For transparency, evaluation was also done by a third party.
“JLL has been finalised as the consultant to take up the Signature tower project. We asked the consultant to finish various tasks like finalising the conceptual design, revenue model, finding joint venture partner, within eight weeks. It will be twin towers. As soon as the conceptual design is finalised, the Chief Minister will lay foundation stone to kick start the construction, which is expected to be completed within three years. The Signature Tower will definitely give a fillip to IT sector bring brand image to AP,” a senior official of APIIC, which was tasked to identify the consultant, told this correspondent.
To give a fillip to the IT sector in Vizag after it was severely battered by Hudhud, AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced in the middle of October last year that the foundation for the proposed IT Signature tower will be laid within a month and it has been delayed since then. He assured Vizag’s signature tower will be more imposing than Hydera-bad’s Cyber towers.
