Bala Vidya Mandir talks to protesting parents, teachers
Chennai: Ending almost a week-long stand-off between the two parties, members of the newly-reconstituted management committee of Bala Vidya Mandir school on Saturday met with the protesting parents and teachers. In what was termed as a positive meeting to ensure classes get going for the children, without further ado, three members of the management committee, including chairman C.S. Ram, initiated discussions with a combined delegation of 15 parents and 10 teachers.
During the meeting, the delegation put forth three primary demands: The teachers wanted the reinstatement of former principal Srinivasa Raghavan, who was transferred to another branch; the issue of adequate representation of parents and teachers on the newly-reconstituted school management committee, as per CBSE rules, was also conveyed; and, thirdly, the delegation wanted the corporate office, located within the school premises, to be shifted out.
“The demands were well-received and given a proper listening to by them. The management committee said they will get back to us with a response by Sunday,” said a parent.
