Worcestershire skipper asks wicketkeeper to remove gloves and act as fielder
Mumbai: ‘Desperate times call for desperate measures,’ it looks like this age old adage was followed quite aptly when English county side Worcestershire registered a 14-run victory over Northamptonshire in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday.
According to a report in ESPNCricInfo, the Daryl Mitchell-led side worked really hard for the win that includes setting a field placement that will be remembered for a long time. With Northamptonshire running away with the game, Worcestershire skipper Mitchell asked his wicketkeeper to get rid of the gloves and act as a fielder.
Ben Cox did exactly that and became an extra fielder, which now meant that there was no one to keep wickets.

The move was approved by the on-field umpires as Worcestershire skipper double checked before going ahead with his decision. Steve Rhodes, the director of Worcestershire cricket said, “In a game when you’re trying to stop the opposition scoring, it’s a legitimate tactic.”
Steve Rhodes says Rapids keeper Ben Cox fielding at fly slip a "legitimate tactic" during latter stages of win over Steelbacks last night.
