Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Muhammad Khan on Friday was optimistic about the series with India in December. “We got 70% chances of this Indo-Pak iconic series in Emirates,” he told reporters at a news conference here at the National Stadium. KCCA President Prof. Ejaz Faruqi, former Test cricketer Salahuddin Ahmed, Director Media PCB Amjad Bhatti was also present on the occasion.
He admitted that the BCCI was ready to play the series. However change of Government in India from Congress to BJP has changed few things. He said India PM Narendra Modi in a recent statement has expressed his desire about the Indo-Pak series. “We are keeping hope and there may be green signal from BCCI for the series in August,” the former diplomat was quoted as saying by APP.
He said during meetings with top BCCI officials N.Srinavasan and Jagmohan Dalmiya, he found very positive in holding the series.
He added that both PCB and BCCI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for six series in the in next six years. The PCB Chairman said BCCI needed clearance from the government to go ahead with the series and mentioned that besides this BCCI had also problem and objection with Tensports televising the series. Shaharyar said PCB has already allocated the series to Tensports being a highest bidder in the tenders flouted by the board. Shahryar added that they also compromised by asking BCCI to provide PCB matchable televising bidder but they failed to match Tensports offer.
