Wind up Tasmac outlets: GK Vasan
Chennai: Stepping up the demand to enforce total prohibition in the state, TMC founder G.K. Vasan, has called upon the state government to wind up all Tasmac outlets across Tamil Nadu and “save several precious lives”. Leading a massive agitation organised by his party in the city on Friday, Mr Vasan alleged that the successive Dravidian parties that ruled the state did away with prohibition.
“Our duty should be to eliminate liquor (sale) in Tamil Nadu.
It is said the sale of liquor fetches Rs25,000 crore revenue to the government. The state government should ignore this revenue, largely obtained from the poor,” he said, and insisted that Tasmac outlets be immediately closed to save the people from the jaws of death. “At least Tamil Nadu should emulate the neighbouring states in phasing out liquor sale,” he added.
