TMC’s massive protest for prohibition in Tamil Nadu
The TMC cadres alleged that the Tasmac outlets were supplying liquor even during ‘dry days’
Coimbatore: In a massive show of strength, the launched Tamil Maanila Congress on Friday staged a huge demonstration in front of the South Thasildar Office demanding the imposition of total prohibition in Tamil Nadu. They raised slogans demanding prohibition and condemning the state government for selling liquor through the Tasmac outlets round the clock.
About 1,000 cadres of the TMC staged a demonstration in front of the South Thasildar office demanding that the State should shut down the sale of liquor through Tasmac outlets, which is ruining thousands of families in the State.
The TMC cadres alleged that the Tasmac outlets were supplying liquor even during ‘dry days’. Alcohol has been wreaking havoc in the lives of several including young school going students who are increasingly getting addicted. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure the welfare of the public but the State Government has been shirking its responsibility, said the TMC functionaries.
