Removing Sonia’s flex poster is insult to Telangana: T Jeevan Reddy
Karimnagar: Jagtial MLA and deputy floor leader of the Congress T. Jeevan Reddy slammed the TRS-led government for downplaying the role of Mrs Sonia Gandhi in the creation of Telangana by removing her flex posters erected at different parts of the city on the occasion of the Formation Day of the state. He was arrested when he was taking part in a protest, in front of the collectorate, organised by the District Congress Committee against district authorities for removing posters of Mrs Sonia Gandhi on Friday.
Mr Reddy felt that the removal of Sonia Gandhi’s poster was an insult to the entire Telangana people. Mrs Sonia Gandhi understood the six-decade long aspirations of the people of Telangana and dared to create a separate state by passing the AP Reorganisation Bill 2014 in Parliament. The TRS, which came to power with the help of bifurcation of the state, was trying to suppress Opposition parties,he said.
“It is like a man deserting his mother who brought him up,” the leader remarked, alleging that the TRS-led government was behaving in an undemocratic manner when it came to recognising the role of the Congress. He added that the government was continuing practices followed during the TD regime.
Former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar said that the TRS-led government achieved nothing but encouraged deflections in its one-year long governance. He criticised the government for not including a lesson on the role of Sonia Gandhi in the textbooks. He believed that Sonia Gandhi’s posters were taken away because the TRS is jealous of the Congress.
DCC president Katakam Mruthyun-jayam, ex-chairman of state warehouse corporation Adluri Laxman, former legislators Arepalli Mohan, A. Praveen Reddy and others participated.
