Patrol vessel sails from Hindustan Shipyard Ltd

Visakhapatnam: The third of the series of five Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPVs), Rani Durgavati-, Yard No.-11156- built for Indian Coast Guard was handed over on June 1 and sailed from Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL) on Friday.
HSL director (Shipbui-lding), Commodore (Retd.) A.S. Mitra flagged off the vessel on its maiden voyage. Built of light high tensile steel with aluminium superstructure and powered by three water jet propulsion systems for high speeds the IPVs are well suited for coa-stal and off shore operations. The ship which is 51.5 m long, 8.36 m wide and has a draught of 4.55 m and capable of achieving 33.5 Knots will be work horse of the Coast Guard. This is the 174th vessel constructed by HSL since inception of the yard.
