Hyderabad: The new capital will be located on the southern bank of the Krishna river and will be the first river front city in South India. Bhoomi puja will be performed in the seed capital area where Raj Bhavan, Assembly, Secretariat, High Court and other buildings will be constructed. Actual construction work will start on Dasara after laying the foundation stone for the capital. The capital region comprises eight towns and every town will be developed as one growth centre with waterways, roadways, railways, industrial clusters, development corridors, dedicated private corridors, airports and ports.
The population of the capital region is 5.8 million and is expected to increase to 11 million by 2035. The “People’s Capital City” will be constructed with key features of a vibrant economy, creating a liveable space, enhancing connectivity and active mobility. The new capital city will also have water transportation system. The capital city is planned with seven corridors. The CM wants to construct the capital as the best city in the 21st century.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs 1,500 crore for the construction of the capital city which includes Rs 1,000 crore for creating infrastructure and Rs 500 crore for construction of administrative buildings.
