Coimbatore: About 30 members of the Periyar Dravida Kazhagam were arrested for waving black flags when Union minister Giriraj Singh arrived at the Coimbatore airport to take part in the Codissia trade fair on Friday.
Just as the Minister was leaving the airport for the Codissia trade fair complex from the airport on Friday, PDK leader B.Ramakrishnan and about 30 cadres waved black flags condemning the Union Minister's visit to Coimbatore. They raised slogans and squatted on the road preventing the movement of the convoy. Traffic was disrupted for about half an hour due to the protest.
The PDK cadres were protesting against the move to derecognise the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle, a student group in IIT, Chennai.
