I gave him my father’s chair for a reason: Karan Johar
He dismissed rumours of a production venture with UTV honchos
Mumbai: Word has been going around for a while that Karan Johar plans to collaborate with Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala to roll out yet another production house.
Karan shares a great rapport with the two, who are always on the guest list when he decides to throw a party. However, when asked if there’s any truth to the buzz, KJo decided to set the record straight for once.
“No, not at all. I don’t know where this is coming from. I want to tell you once and for all that Dharma Productions will have only two people running the show — Apoorva Mehta and me. Nobody else will come in the way or add to Dharma.”
Apoorva is Karan’s childhood friend and the CEO of Dharma Productions. He is credited for balancing arts and commerce in all of Karan’s projects. KJo further added, “Apoorva and I are not only connected emotionally, but also professionally for the rest of my life. I made him sit in my father’s chair for a reason. I report to him, he makes the decisions and he tells me what to do with my company. There will be no third person.”
Karan, in a couple of months, will start shooting for his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in London. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
