‘Mashrafe Mortaza took rickshaw for his wife needed the car’
Mumbai: Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza stunned his fans travelling by a cycle rickshaw, which collided with a bus, to the training ground before the series against India. More than his minor injury, his decision of choosing the cycle over a car raised concerns.
It is true that the Bangladesh Cricket Board did not provide him with a car but Mashrafe has a personal vehicle too. So, why didn’t he use it?
"Mashrafe has more than one car and the reason for not bringing the car at the venue was because his wife had to take two kids to the hospital for routine check up,” said Dr. Debashish Chaudhary, the team physician.
Mashrafe was immediately treated on ground.
"It is a very minor injury. The ODI captain has bruises and laceration on hands but he will surely be able to lead the team,” added Chaudhary.
"Mashrafe has two cars and a bike. But the distance between his house and the venue is very less and because of heavy traffic in the area, he avoided bringing the car,” said national selector Faruk Ahmed.
During ICC World Cup 2011, all participating teams were given cycle rickshaw rides during the opening ceremony in Bangladesh.
