Watch: Devendra Bishoo does a Warne, delivers ‘ball of 21st century’
Roseau: Who says spin and emergence of classical spinners have receded? Devendra Bishoo – the West Indian tweaker – erased all such notions with one delivery against Australia during the second day of the first Test here on Thursday.
The delivery with which he dismissed Brad Haddin took everyone by surprise. In fact, his effort is being compared to Australian spin legend Shane Warne’s magic ball to Mike Gatting in 1993.
That particular, which he bowled at Lord’s, is known as ‘Ball of the Century’.
Bishoo achieved his career best Test bowling figures of 6 for 80 against Australia.
The entire Aussie middle order, including captain Michael Clarke, fell prey to his turns.
But Bishoo’s wrist and magical fingers have been the talk of the town since the dismissal. Even Adam Voges’ debut Test ton failed to attract attention.
