RJD, Congress JD(U) on same page: Sharad Yadav
The JD(U) and RJD are locked in a battle of brinkmanship over issues of seat adjustment
Patna/New Delhi: Though a grand alliance of the Janata Parivar is far from taking off, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday exuded confidence that there would be a pre-poll alliance of non-BJP parties in the upcoming Bihar elections.
“Congress, JD(U), RJD and NCP will contest the Bihar Assembly elections together. The unity is bound to happen as it is the need of the hour. The nation needs it. All of us will contest the election together,” said Mr Yadav.
The JD(U) and RJD are locked in a battle of brinkmanship over issues of seat adjustment and leadership in Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sought to corner RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav by reaching out to the Congress for a pre-poll alliance. Following this, Mr Lalu Yadav had sent his emissary, MLC Bhola Yadav, to meet Mr Kumar over the issue of an alliance.
Scotching speculation about the RJD and JD(U) going their separate ways, Mr Sharad Yadav said, “The unity of Janata Parivar parties has already been announced. Now the announcement will materialise. It will materialise as the country needs it.”
