Railway Security Solution For Traveller Assistance app for MMTS travellers
Hyderabad: MMTS commuters in the twin cities will experience safer travel from now on. The South Central Railways, to ensure better security of women, on Thursday introduced Rissta (Railway Security Solution For Traveller Assistance), meant to provide security to MMTS passengers, that will available on their fingertips.
SCR general manager P.K. Srivastava, said, “The MMTS train services are of vital importance to meet the transport needs of Hyderabad. Measures are being taken to upgrade the standards of MMTS railway stations, including passenger amenities. The punctuality standards of MMTS have significantly improved.”
He said the SCR was willing to extend MMTS services up to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, but the GMR authorities are not allowing services within 2.5 km radius of the airport citing security reasons.
“This issue can be resolved through high-level political interference. SCR is ready to spend up to '40.50 crore to extend its services up to RGIA,” Mr Srivastava said.
The SCR GM also said that works were on for the second phase of MMTS as per schedule and it was likely to be commissioned between March and June 2017.
On the environmental front, he said SCR had fitted bio-toilets in nine train rakes. The first engine, which will function on a 5 per cent mix of bio-diesel, will be pressed into service by SCR today to mark World Environment Day.
