KSRTC launches android app for ticket booking
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has gone hi-tech with a first of its kind android application for smartphone users, almost five months after it launched online booking.
Commuters can now book tickets hassle free at their convenience from anywhere on the move.
Keltron, the government agency engaged by the KSRTC for developing and managing online booking services, released the app through the Google Play Store the other day.
Any smartphone on android platform can download the Kerala SRTC bus booking app. Currently, commuters who don’t have access to computers are forced to visit the reservation counters at the bus stations for enquiries and booking tickets. Project manager of Keltron (communications) Vijish said that the app can be downloaded free of cost from Play Store.
Currently, as many as 4,000 tickets are being sold online a day. “We haven’t announced the launch of the app officially. All the services on the portal are available on the app as well.
The main feature is its convenience as anybody with internet access can easily book tickets even while travelling. Currently, around 220 schedules are available online and KSRTC is in the process of adding more routes,” said Mr Vijish. KSRTC Electronic Data Processing Centre coordinator Vipin Kumar said the app was being fine-tuned by Keltron. “We are trying to make it more user-friendly based on the user feedbacks,” he told DC.
