Kerala Infopark road repair to be discussed next week

The PWD project also involves renovation of the stretch leading to Edachira

Kochi: With the monsoon all set to arrive, commuters to Infopark will have a tough time despite the public works department issuing the work order for the repair and renovation work of the Kakkanad-Infopark road.

“We, too, get complaints on the extreme bad condition of the road and had reminded the contractor about starting the repair work,” PWD officials said. “We have called a meeting next week to discuss the issue and ensure that at least the repair work is taken up now. The major renovation, which includes four-laning of the stretch from IMG to Inforpark, will be taken up only after the monsoon.” The PWD project also involves renovation of the stretch leading to Edachira.

The officials said the successful bidder had quoted below the estimated amount of Rs 12 crore and the department has written to the government seeking sanction for it. PWD project envisaged building the road using bitumen macadam and bitumen concrete with proper drainage and gradient. The work also involves building sidewalls for the Kadambrayar in front of Infopark.

The condition of the road has become worse recently with various utilities digging it at several places. This, coupled with the unprecedented pre-monsoon rains, made the condition of the road worse.
