Chandrababu Naidu to lay foundation stone for new Andhra Pradesh capital tomorrow
Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will perform the ground-breaking ceremony (Bhumi pujan) and lay the foundation stone for construction of the new capital tomorrow at village here.
The chief minister will perform 'Bhumi Pujan' at Mandam village, located on the city outskirts near Krishna river bund, tomorrow at 8.49 am, state agriculture minister Prathipati Pulla Rao, told reporters on Friday.
The new capital of Andhra Pradesh will be developed in and around Vijayawada-Guntur region.
He said the ceremony is being conducted after getting approval from the Election Commission as model code of conduct is in enforce ahead of Legislative Council polls in Krishna and Guntur districts, scheduled to be held next month.
Rao, who is supervising the ceremony, said after identifying the exact location by 'vastu' pandits for the 'Bhumi pujan', Guntur district administration has taken up all the necessary arrangements.
District collector Kantilal Dande and SP Narayan Naik visited the site today and reviewed the security arrangements.
