BJP campaign starts Sunday
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior BJP leader O. Rajagopal will kick off his by-election convention in Aruvikkara on Sunday. Most State BJP leaders will attend the convention. Though criticism against Rajagopal's nomination continues unabated in social networking sites, Rajagopal asserts he is out to snatch victory.
While the LDF held its convention on Wednesday, the UDF is holding its convention on Saturday which will be inaugurated by senior Congress leader A. K. Antony.
The BJP is the last to hold its convention at V K Auditorium in Aryanad. State BJP president V. Muraleedharan will inaugurate it. Apart from State leaders, Rajiv Prathap Rudy, union minister of State for skill development and entrepreneurship, is also expected to attend the convention.
Meanwhile, Muraleedharan said the LDF candidate M. Vijayakumar would be relegated to the third slot in the Aruvikkara by-election. While inaugurating the leadership camp at Aryanad today, Muraleedharan said the situation at Thiruvananthapuram Lok Saba elections where the LDF candidate came third would be repeated in Aruvikkara as well.
“No wonder the LDF leaders criticized O. Rajagopal in bad taste at their LDF convention. History will be repeated in Aruvikkara too as the battle is between good and the evil”, said Muraleedharan.
Rajagopal said party workers were working like well-oiled machines and that fact had been unanimously agreed to by the ruling and opposition fronts. According to him, this showed that the BJP was gaining in the by-election.
