Bengaluru garbage woes: Relief for Mandur residents
Bengaluru: Residents of Mandur who had protested against the dumping of garbage in their locality have relief coming their way with the state government deciding to take up bio-reniduation of garbage piles at the landfill site.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr T.B. Jayachandra said the Cabinet had given administrative approval for the Rs 88.5 crore project.
The tenders will be floated in four stages.
The process would include segregation of solid waste as well as bio-decomposing of biodegradable waste. Soon after the tender process is completed, the contractors would begin work, he said.
The government has also decided to allot alternative land to M/s Organic Waste Management Company, which was to set up a 1000 MT capacity solid waste management plant near Mandur. Fifteen acres of land has been allocated at Bidarahalli in Bengaluru North taluk. The company will set up a 600 MT capacity plant, Mr Jayachandra said.
