10,000 women to own land pattas
Hyderabad: About 10,300 women are set to become the proud owners of house sites in the city on Friday as the Telangana government will launch distribution of pattas to beneficiaries under the Land Regularisation Scheme.
All these regularisations were done free of cost for BPL families for plots measuring less than 125 sq. yards. In keeping with the decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to register these pattas in the name of a woman in the household, officials have prepared registration documents to this effect which would be handed over on Friday.
The government directed officials to register sites on the name of men only in case there are no women in a particular household after taking up thorough verification. Mr Rao will distribute pattas to 3,300 women in Malkajgiri constituency and to 7,000 women in SBT Nagar in Khairatabad constituency limits.
In all, one lakh beneficiaries have been identified in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts under the BPL category, for whom the pattas will be distributed in a phased manner. The remaining 25,000 beneficiaries hail from other districts.
The government had received a total of 3,36,869 applications under LRS across the state. However, the inquiries by revenue officials revealed that 93,770 applications come under ‘objectionable category’ as they belong to various central government departments or are stuck in legal disputes.
