She committed suicide by hanging with a dupatta while she was alone at her residence
Coimbatore: A class nine girl committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Peelamedu on Wednesday morning. Police said Sri Varshini, 15, from Green New Colony in Peelamedu, committed suicide by hanging with a dupatta while she was alone at her residence in Peelamedu.
“She had gone into a room to dress up in uniform to go the school. However as she did not come out of the room for a long time, the girl's mother Shanmugavalli, a school teacher, after repeated knockings had peeped through the window and found her hanging with a shawl tied to the fan,” police said.
On receiving information, the Peelamedu police rushed to the spot and sent the body of the girl for post mortem at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Shanmugavalli had separated from her husband Jambulingam due to domestic squabbles and was living with her daughter. Investigations revealed that the girl was good in studies. Police are yet to know the reason for the girl taking such an extreme step and further investigations are on.
