Chennai: The police arrested two persons for selling bogus products of a branded T-shirt at cheap rates through online trade portal, Quikr.com. Edwinson (24) of Dindigul and Dinesh Kumar (23) of Vathalagundu were arrested from their rented house at Lakshmi Nagar, Chitlapakkam.The duo was arrested based on a complaint from the two brand managers of the T-shirt brand who personally preferred a complaint at the Chitlapakkam police station.
“The complainants flew in from Mumbai and Kolkata after learning online that their brand’s T-shirts were being sold at a much lower rate and that the seller was from Chitlapakkam in the city,” said a police officer. The duo advertised that customers can avail of 15 of those branded T-shirts for Rs 2,000.
Investigations revealed that the two travelled to Punjab where they bought in bulk. They told the police that they did not forge the trademarks on the T-shirts and bought it from sellers who claimed that these were ‘export rejects’.The police raided their rented residence and seized close to 500 T-shirts stacked there. Dinesh Kumar and Edwinson were remanded in custody.
