They were also charged with destroying the evidence in the form of lap top and documents
Coimbatore: The five Maoists who were arrested recently will continue to stay in the prison till July 2 as the district court extended their judicial remand on Wednesday.
The Maoist couple Roopesh and Shyna were produced by the Kerala Internal Security Investigation Team (ISIT), while the three others — J Anup, C. Veeramani alias Easwaran, and C Kannan — were brought from the Coimbatore Central Prison. They were produced before the First Additional District judge R. Sakthivel.
The Maoists were taken to Kerala in connection with providing shelter for Maoist leader Malla Raja Reddy and his wife in Ernakulam. They were also charged with destroying the evidence in the form of lap top and documents.
Lawyer S Balamurugan, who appeared on behalf of the left wing extremists, said that a bail plea would be filed on Thursday for the five Maoists. As their judicial custody was extended, Roopesh and Shyna were again taken to Kerala to be produced in a court in Kerala on June 9 and 10; the three others were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
