Jyesthabhishekam fete concludes on grand note
Tirupati: The three-day annual Jyesthabhishekam concluded on a grand religious note in the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Wednesday. Snapana Tirumanjanam to the processional deities has been performed in a ceremonious way with milk, curd, honey, turmeric paste and sandal paste before the final bath with ‘Kalasa Snanam’ is rendered to the deities.
Later in the evening, the deities were adorned with ‘Golden Armour.’ This armour will be removed only for the Jyesthabhishekam which falls next year in the holy month of Jyestha. The Lord was taken around the four mada streets in a procession after Sahasra Deepalankara Seva. To fight against the evil, the Lord emerged with this protective armour in this Kaliyuga.
Since the special abhishekam (celestial bath) is conducted to this special ‘Armour of God’ this festival is also called Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam. As this festival takes place in the month of Jyestha, (usually falls in June or July)it is also known as ‘Jyesthabhishekam.’
TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam and Arjitha Vasanthotsavam on Friday following the event. TTD Chairman Dr.Ch. Krishnamurthy, TTD JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, Temple Dy EO Chinnamagari Ramana, Board Member A.V. Ramana, Peishkar R. Selvam and other officials were also present.
Elsewhere, processional deities of Lord Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy in the form of Mohini Avatharam is taken out in a grand procession on Pallaki Utsavam as part of fifth day of ongoing nine-day Annual Brahmotsavam at Applayagunta on Thursday morning.
