Another Nestle product, NAN Pro in adulteration row
Coimbatore: After Maggi noodles landed in a soup, it’s another Nestle product, the baby food NAN Pro, which is facing the heat in Tamil Nadu’s commercial capital, Coimbatore.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration department in Coimbatore will file a chargesheet against Nestle as the infant food NAN Pro was found with insect larvae and weevils, said designated officer, Dr R. Kathiravan.
The chargesheet follows a complaint by a cab driver, Prem Ananth and his wife on April 14 that small worms were found floating when they mixed the powder with water. Random samples of the baby food have been taken across the city and the results will be out in the next three days.
The couple who were shocked to spot wriggly worms and weevils in the food complained about it to Nestle. However, the company representatives later insisted that they would test it in their labs, the couple claimed.
