70,000 users for free Wi-Fi in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Residents have taken enthusiastically to the free Wi-Fi zones created by the state government. The Wi-Fi zone around Hussainsagar recently has so far seen 70,000 user sessions. At Charminar, where the facility was launched on Monday, 500 user sessions were recorded. Wi-Fi is available for free for the first half-an-hour for users at Charminar, Birla Mandir, Birla Planetarium, Birla Science City, NIMS and Hussainsagar. At Charminar, users can avail faster speeds and bigger downloads on payment.
The state government plans to extend the Wi-Fi hotspots to all tourist spots in the city this month. The government expects to make the entire city Wi-Fi enabled within a year. An official of the IT department said 600 Gb of data had been downloaded by users at the hotspots.
