Peethala Sujatha in soup, police find Rs 10 lakh at home
Rajahmundry: Days after the Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy cash-for-vote scam, Andhra Pradesh minister for women and child welfare Peethala Sujatha, landed herself and the Telugu Desam in fresh trouble when an unclaimed bag containing Rs 10 lakh and a photocopy of a hall ticket of a DSC aspirant was found at her ancestral residence at Veeravasaram in West Godavari on Tuesday.
Sources said, Adhala Vishnuvathi, a retired warden of a welfare hostel from Jinnuru village of Palacole rural mandal in West Godavari, had visited the SBI’s Palacole branch on Tuesday and taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh against three fixed deposits. She visited the ancestral residence of the minister with the money and a photocopy of her daughter Srilakshmi’s hall ticket.

As the minister was not present at that time, she greeted the minister’s father Babji for some time left the bag of cash and left. The minister stays at her camp office at Eluru.
The minister’s housekeeper Subba Rao noticed the bag in the visitors’ room and alerted the local police who seized the bag and produced it before the magistrate. As the minister was not at her residence, there were no security personnel present at that time.
Based on the complaint lodged by the housekeeper, a case was booked under CrPC at Veeravasaram police station. When interrogated, Ms Vishnuvathi informed the police that she had forgotten the bag at the minister’s residence as she was in a hurry. She said that after realising her mistake, she had thought of collecting it on Wednesday as the money would be secure at the minister’s house.
