Back girls in FIFA 16
For several years now, one franchise has managed to just ride on the popularity of the sport that tries to simulate, and that is, of course EA Sports’ FIFA games. Ever since FIFA 11, the improvements in the game have been fairly marginal, with every iteration being plagued with its own myriad of bugs and game exploits. Therefore, the time was ripe for EA to try and do something that breathes some new life into the game and with FIFA 16, it seems that they are doing just that.
EA recently announced the inclusion of 12 international women’s teams in their upcoming instalment of the football simulator FIFA 16. According to EA, the game will feature the “best visuals to date” and “authentic player likeness”. However, their trailer revealed a completely different story. Not only did the character models of the players look ghastly, but the character animations were sloppy and choppy.
This is definitely a step in the right direction. Women’s sports has been neglected thus far and with this, EA will be helping in a big way to promote women’s professional football. Hopefully, future iterations of the game will feature not only the 12 women’s international teams from this time, but a complete roster including other teams and domestic leagues as well.
