Hyderabad High Court seeks records of Alair encounter
Hyderabad: A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt called for the case records including postmortem reports of the bodies of terror suspect Viquaruddin and four others killed in a police encounter on April 7 at Alair in Nalgonda district.
Dealing with an appeal by the family members of the deceased for a re-postmortem of the bodies, the bench asked an officer from the Special Investigating Team constituted to investigate the case to be present in the court with the records on Thursday.
The petitioners alleged that it was fake encounter and the case be handed over to CBI and case of murder be registered against the police. The petitioner told the bench that that the SIT has been asked to investigate into a crime wherein the dead person is shown as accused.
While making it clear that it is not going to monitor the probe, the HC asked counsel representing the TS government to inform by Thursday whether it was contemplating to expand the scope of the SIT to cover the genuineness of the encounter.
