I don’t experiment: Gopichand Malineni

He adds that his inspiration is director V.V. Vinayak

Hyderabad: After Pandaga Chesko, Gopichand Malineni is one of the top directors in T-town at present. He says that the film got delayed because of the strike in the industry. “Ram and I were supposed to work together after Don Seenu and it happened now,” says Malineni, adding that he has gone for a regular formula without experimenting much in the film.

“Ram needed a good break and at the same time, the producer’s earlier film Shadow didn’t do well. So I looked at the safety aspect and went for a tried and tested formula with a good screenplay,” adds the director.

He says that most directors take inspiration from epics like Mahabharatha, Ramayana and Bhagavatham. “People tell the same kind of stories in different methods,” he says.

“I came to the industry to make good love stories. Personally, I like love subjects like Ok Bangaram and Yeh Maya Chesave. I had met many producers with that love story and they asked me to expand the subject. In the process of change, the subject became a regular formula film,” he says.

“For Pandaga Chesko, I wanted to get the families to the theatres, which I did reasonably well,” he says. He adds that his inspiration is director V.V. Vinayak, who mixes commercial elements in a film with entertainment.

Talking about his next film, he says that it will be with a big star. “Discussions are going on and I am preparing the script for the film. We will announce the details soon,” he says.
