I find similar roles tedious and boring: Emraan Hashmi

Emraan talks about playing an ‘emotional’ character in Hamari Adhuri Kahani

Emraan Hashmi has reached that point in his career where he can choose his roles, do something different.

“As an actor I would like to exploit the emotional side of mine. Performing the same kind of roles becomes tedious and boring. And after my son’s sickness, whatever we have gone through, most of my near and dear ones feel I have changed a lot,” says the actor about playing an emotional role in Hamari Adhuri Kahani opposite Vidya Balan.

“Hamari Adhuri Kahani is different; it’s from Vasudha’s point of view. Her life begins again when Aarav (his character) enters her life,” he adds.

Vasudha (Vidya’s character) has tons of insecurities. How does Emraan ensure that his wife in real life does not feel insecure? “My wife believes in me. I always like to give my family their time. Also, when my son was going through some testing times, I stood by my family… My on screen image does not make her feel insecure as she knows this is my job.”

So, will we be missing his serial kisser image in Hamari Adhuri Kahani? Emraan laughs and says, “Will this disappoint you? No, you will not be disappointed. This character will show me in a different light. As an actor I do prefer portraying different kind of roles and this role will be very different.”

The actor has good chemistry with Vidya. “I remember we had a bit of a romantic scene in Dirty Picture and after watching the sequence on reel for the first time, director Milan Luthria said, ‘You two have a sizzling on screen chemistry; you should do a romantic flick together’. And Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a romantic tale.”

Another film that his fans are eagerly waiting for is Azhar. “Yes! I am honoured to be playing Azharuddin in his biopic,” he says, adding, “I found the match- fixing episode in his life most appealing. The whole nation had pulled him down at that point in time. His personal as well professional life had a lot of drama.”
