Telangana to come out with hiring policy

The TSPSC is the Constitutional body empowered to conduct recruitments

Hyderabad: The TRS government is likely to announce its hiring policy for about a quarter of the existing government jobs in Telangana on Tuesday’s State Formation Day.

The government had come under heavy criticism over the past year for not undertaking recruitments to its departments although the issue was one of the main platforms of the Telangana agitation.

Student groups have also planned protests on June 2 against this. However, the government could make an announcement about initiating the hiring process for about 27,000 to 30,000 jobs. Sources informed that the notification for this would be issued later.

The TRS government had stated earlier this year that there was no problem in beginning the hiring process for about 85,000 government jobs.

About 22,000 additional posts are within the purview of the Kamalanathan committee. Despite this, the government didn’t direct the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to issue notifications for the hiring. The TSPSC is the Constitutional body empowered to conduct recruitments.

Sources had earlier said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was concerned about the Presidential Order which would make persons hailing from AP but living here since the last four years eligible for government jobs.

The reservation policy for minorities and Scheduled Castes and Tribes was also seen as a hurdle. However, sources said that the TRS government has decided to take the first step now.

Seeing the detrimental effect of not initiating recruitments, the government may announce that it will soon hire candidates for around 27,000 to 30,000 posts in the state. “The notification can be given later after solving problems,” sources said.
