Now, you can meet inspectors at stipulated time in Kovai

The public can meet the inspectors from 12 noon to 1.30 pm and from 6pm to 7.30 pm
Coimbatore: You can now step into any police station to meet inspectors and petition your grievance during a stipulated three hours every day. The public can meet the inspectors from 12 noon to 1.30 pm and from 6pm to 7.30 pm. However, there will be a different timing for Race Course police station due to frequent protests happening near it. The public can meet the inspector from 7pm to 8.30 pm at the Race Course station.
City police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan has allotted specific time for the public to meet the inspectors in the police station. The new move comes in the wake of complaints about public not being able to meet the inspectors, who are busy with their demanding job schedule. The public, unable to meet the inspectors, return disappointed after handing over the petition to junior level officers in the station.
The top cop said stipulating a time for people to meet the inspector will avert their having to wait in the station. They can get their grievances sorted out in time. The timing has been fixed in such a way that people get to meet the inspectors in their afternoon, if not in the evening, when they would be back from office.
For the convenience of the public, boards will display the contact number of the inspector and specified timings to meet the official. The public can also call up the number, fix an appointment with the inspector to know his availability and meet him to redress their grievance.
Mr Viswanathan said that the new system will come into effect from June 9. The grievance timing system is applicable for the 15 law and order, 15 crime and three All Women's Police Station in the city limits. The top cops will monitor the inspectors to ensure that they follow the routine and meet the public in the fixed hours.
