It’s celebration time in Telangana
Finance minister Etela Rajender will lead the celebration in city
KARIMNAGAR: The spirit of celebrations of Telangana’s Formation Day has already filled the air. People from all walks of life, employees of private and government organisations, political parties, voluntary bodies and trade unions are all set to celebrate the day. District authorities made unprecedented arrangements for organising the festivities on a grand scale.
Karimnagar district was an epicentre of Telangana movement. Telangana Rashtra Samiti’s (TRS) maiden public meeting was organised on SRR Degree College’s ground after the floating the party in 2001. Since then, the district played an instrumental role in the movement and turned a bastion for the pink party.
Considering the role of the district in the separate state stir, the Formation Day is a great occasion to indulge in celebrations for its people and Telangana protagonists. Everybody has geared up for merriments. For them, it is more than a festival. They derive boundless joy in celebrating the D-Day.
Public purchased cakes that contained Telangana map to cut it on June 1 midnight to mark the formation day. Youths bought crackers before dancing to drum beats. Women too collected various colours and flowers to decorate thresholds and houses. Employees decked up their offices. Political parties, trade unions and voluntary bodies called their members and activists for celebrating the occasion.
Prominent junctions of the city were illuminated with colorful lamps. Finance and civil supplies minister Etela Rajender will begin the celebrations by garlanding statue of Telangana Talli located near Karimnagar I Town police station. Later, he will pay tributes to Telangana martyrs at Telangana memorial.
