eMigrate for overseas jobs by October

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After imposing restrictions on overseas nursing recruitment, the centre has now prescribed fresh restrictions on overseas recruitment to other job sectors also by prescribing mandatory registration on the eMigrate portal by all foreign employers.

Hereafter, foreign employers who want to recruit more than 150 workers from India will have to register on the eMigrate portal to get emigration clearance. Employers recruiting 50 to 150 workers will have to register before June 30 and for recruiting 20 to 50 workers, registration should be made before July 31.

By August 31, all foreign employers who wish to make even a single recruitment from India will have to register with eMigrate portal to get emigration clearance from the Protectorate of Emigrants.

Though the fresh restriction would be applicable only to those coming under the emigration clearance required categories, a major chunk of overseas workforce from India to the Gulf countries come under this category. Over 5,000 workers are approaching PoE offices across the country every day for clearance, sources said.

According to the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs sources, by making all overseas recruitment from the country through eMigrate system, frauds in the sector could be curbed to a large extent.

The employers should give the details like terms and conditions of employment and this could ensure better prospectus for the workers.

While the nursing sector recruitment is now restricted to three government agencies, no such restriction is made in the recruitment to other sectors. All registered recruiting agencies could carry out the recruitment provided the foreign employer is registered with eMigrate, sources clarified.
