Deadlock with Pakistan should end : Narendra Modi
Modi said there are “neither any charges of corruption against my government
New Delhi: Taking a dig at the Congress that has been critical of his government’s performance, Mr Modi said the party should feel “ashamed over its deeds in the past 10 years.” Reacting to the criticism he faced for taking on his domestic political rivals on foreign soil, the PM asked, “Does the Congress think that the world outside does not know about scams?”
On the controversial Land Acquisition Bill, which has triggered a political storm, Mr Modi said opposition to the legislation was politically motivated. The Prime Minister said that he was satisfied with the work done by his government in the past year and the NDA government had “lived up to the promise that our intentions will be pure and our actions will be driven by long-term national interest.”
Comparing the NDA rule to that of the UPA, Mr Modi said there are “neither any charges of corruption against my government nor any scandals. We have given a clean, transparent and efficient government.”
He also said that in just one year, NDA government has “taken steps on every possible front to help bring people out of the vicious cycle of poverty” which the UPA failed to do. On the issue of resolving boundary dispute with China, Mr Modi said “I made India’s point of view very clear. Both India and China have potential for growth, and we can together tackle the problem of poverty. I and (Chinese) President Xi (Jinping) are committed at personal level to take the cooperative and peaceful process forward.”
On Pakistan, Mr Modi said, “We have only one expectation (from Pakistan) that the nation follows the path of peace and non-violence. Then there is no issue. Violence is beneficial neither to that nation nor to us. The deadlock should end.”
