Mumbai cops book Navy officer for rape
Kiran allegedly made false promises of marriage to have sexual relations with the victim
Visakhapatnam: Lieutenant M. S. Kiran, a Naval officer in Vizag, was booked for allegedly raping a media professional from Delhi and forcing her to have two abortions.
Though the Mumbai police had booked a case against the naval officer on May 28 this year, Vizag cops are yet to get any information from their Mumbai colleagues.
Sources said that Lieutenant M. S. Kiran, who met the woman using popular social-networking website Facebook, had sexually exploited her in Vizag and Mumbai, between October 2014 and March 2015, after promising to marry her. Based on the complaint from the victim, the Cuffe Parade police registered a case against Lieutenant Kiran under Sections 376 (rape) and 312 (causing miscarriage) of the IPC in Mumbai.
Sources also said that Lieutenant Kiran has been working as a naval officer in Vizag for past three years and both the victim and accused were natives of Kerala.
Lieutenant Kiran allegedly made false promises of marriage to have sexual relations with the victim. The duo stayed in a hotel in the city and the last sexual assault took place at Sagrika Army hostel in Cuffe Parade on March 27.
