Mumbai: Over the years, the trio – Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman – kept contributing to Indian cricket till their legs got tired. Even then, they came back as commentators, as coaches and captains in Indian Premier League. Now, they are all set to join Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) as advisors. Cricket, like a gentleman’s sport: With so much of T20 and glamour all around, expect these three to resize the game into what we all saw in the 90s till late 2013. Though it will take time, but imagine a batsman with Laxman’s wrists, Tendulkar’s paddle sweep and Ganguly’s cover drive.

More wins overseas: All three of them were successful overseas with India winning matches. Earlier, they used to be bullied by teams in their own backyard but Ganguly turned the table. Laxman’s nine out of 17 tons were scored abroad. Under Ganguly, India won 11 out of 28 Tests overseas and total 76 out of 146 ODIs overall.

Virat Kohli’s teacher: With so much being said about Kohli being the next Tendulkar, the youngster now has a chance to spend time with the legend more often to better his game. Tendulkar can also teach him how to be calm and control emotions when necessary no matter what. But with Ganguly around, Kohli’s aggression may take new shape too.

Test, ODI specialist: Laxman is one of those players who is a certified Test player. He has only played 86 ODIs in his entire career. He can guide the batsmen solely for Tests while Ganguly can do that for ODIs. Remember stepping out to left arm spinners?

Better team, no match fixing: More youngsters can expect a national call-up with Ganguly being in the proceedings. Then, Sachin can nurture the player for the bigger stage.
