K Chandrasekhar Rao to refocus Telangana welfare plan
Hyderabad: The TRS government, which will complete one year on June 2, has launched an exercise to reset its priorities.
The government is all set to unveil special schemes to address the issues of people in semi-urban and rural areas to ward off criticism that some of its polices in the first year were “urban-centric” and revolved around Hyderabad and other cities like Warangal and Karimnagar.
Youth and student-centric policies are also on the cards, which are likely to be announced by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his address at Parade Grounds on the occasion of the first anniversary of the TS Formation Day on June 2.
Mr Rao has tried to fulfill the huge expectations, but the delay in division of employees and AIS officials between AP and TS had “handicapped” the government in meeting targets. This has led to a gap between devising policies and meeting the aspirations of the people in the first year, which Mr Rao now plans to bridge.
“All these factors contributed to an imbalance between the schemes. While some sections derived huge benefits out of government schemes in the first year, other sections got nothing. The time has come for the government to reset its priorities to bridge this gap,” said a senior official in policy making.
Explaining the “imbalance”, the official said, “Government staff benefitted with salary hikes in the first year. Sections like students, who played a key role in the statehood agitation, are feeling neglected as the job notification could not be released.”
