Hyderabad night bazaar demand rises
Hyderabad: There is a lot of pressure from shopkeepers on the government to allow the night bazaars ahead of Ramzan for people to do their Id shopping. Shops are traditionally kept open only on the last 10 days of Ramzan, as the number of people venturing out after Iftar to shop is invariably very high.
Social activist Ather Saheb said, “We are having meetings with shopkeepers to make them understand that they can have their offers for Ramzan before the month starts. In doing so, they will help change the wrong concept (of shopping during the holy month), which has now become the prime focus of Ramzan.”
While shopping is important, as families require new clothes, shoes etc. for Id, the focus is to shift this concept to the month of Shabaan, ahead of Ramzan.
Shopkeeper Janatul Hussain said, “Ramzan is the peak business time families pick up the best products only during this month. If shopping has to be shifted, then there must be complete consensus among all quarters.”
