Bookings on buses see a 10 per cent rise

Hyderabad: There has been a 10 per cent increase in bus occupancies this year. Due to the heat, occupancies for AC buses have increased by 50 per cent since January, as per official figures from AP and TS districts.

The occupancy rate has increased from around 65 per cent six months back, to 80 per cent currently. AC buses are witnessing a rise in the number of passengers due to the soaring temperatures and the luxury buses are even seeing 100 per cent occupancies during certain hours in the day.

“It might be for the first time that a larger chunk of the AC buses are plying with near full capacity during office hours,” said a senior official from the Corporation. Occupancies of high-end services have risen 10 per cent over the last 15 days.
