Prime accused knew victim; called friends over to rape her

Hyderabad: A three-member gang was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in the Boduppal area of Medipally. The prime accused, Ravi, 26, a car driver, and the victim are neighbours.
He called the 17-year-old victim over the phone saying that he wanted to meet her. Police said that he took her to a relative’s house where the gang raped took turns to rape her. The incident came to light when the victim returned home and informed her parents.
Medipally police said the victim, a student of a private college at Habsiguda, and Ravi are acquainted with each other. About 10 days ago, Ravi telephoned the victim. When she came to a spot near Boduppal, she was taken to a vacant house which belonged to Ravi’s relative. After reaching there, Ravi called his friends — Suri, 23, a car driver and Laxman alias Tillu, 23, a labourer — to the house.
“The gang consumed food and liquor in the house and raped the victim. The victim escaped and went to her relative’s house in Warangal district. Meanwhile, her parents, who were searching for her, lodged a complaint. She returned home a couple of days ago and informed them about the rape,” said inspector B. Naveen Reddy.
A gangrape case was booked and the accused were arrested and remanded on Saturday.
