Key suburban stations to get facelift
Chennai: Key railway stations in the city including Chennai Central and Chennai Egmore, are set to get a facelift. At Chennai Egmore, a renovated foot overbridge will be inaugurated within a fortnight. At the Central station railway authorities will unveil new signages and coach indication boards.
Chennai Beach station, another important station on the suburban rail network, will have a remodelled platform as well as an additional platform. These measures are part of passenger and customer facilitation drive that the Indian Railways has embarked upon.
At a press conference, Anupam Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai division, announced that the speed on the third line between Tiruvallur and Arakkonam would be increased. Additional two lines will also be inaugurated between Moore Market Complex and Basin Bridge. There will also be a partially air-conditioned DEMU between Egmore Puducherry and Puducherry Tirupathy, the official said.
