SP R Sukesan says his role in probe is over
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance SP R. Sukesan informed the Vigilance special court here on Friday that the investigation into the bar bribery allegation against finance minister K. M. Mani was over.
Mr Sukesan who headed the special investigation unit which probed the allegation against Mani, said his role in the investigation was over as further decisions on whether to prosecute Mani or not had to be taken by higher-ups and legal experts after scrutiny. A final report will be filed at the earliest once these procedures were over.
The statement was given in connection with a petition filed by Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association working president Biju Ramesh seeking court supervision over the probe. In view of the SP's statement that the probe was over, the petition was closed.
Biju Ramesh sought court supervision citing serious lapses in the probe. Mr Sukesan had handed over the factual report to Vigilance legal advisor C. C. Agustine on Wednesday to examine the scope of prosecuting
Mr Mani with the available evidence. Vigilance director Vinson M. Paul will take a final decision whether to prosecute Mr Mani or not.
